An imposter game (or impostor game) is a social deduction game. Everyone shares a secret except one player, the impostor, who has to blend in. The group talks, asks questions and votes on who they think is faking it. If they catch the impostor, the group wins. If not, the impostor does.
Most imposter games online use a secret word or a location. Reelies uses a short video instead.
How the video version works
- Everyone opens reelies.fun on their own phone and joins the same lobby.
- Each round, everyone watches a short clip. The impostor gets a different clip, picked to be close: same kind of subject, setting or vibe.
- You talk it through. Describe what you saw without giving everything away.
- Everyone votes. Then both clips are revealed.
Full rules and scoring are on the How to play page.
Why videos make a better imposter game
- More to argue about. A clip has colours, sounds, people and a punchline. A single word has one meaning.
- Better bluffing. The impostor's clip is close to yours, so they can say something true about it and still sound right.
- No prep. No cards to print and no words to think up. The game picks the clips.
- Funnier reveals. Seeing both clips side by side at the end is half the fun.
Playing online vs in the same room
Reelies works best with everyone in one room, phones in hand, reading each other's faces. It also works over a video call: share the invite link, everyone watches on their own device, and you talk on the call. Each phone shows only that player's own clip.
Free and in your browser
There's nothing to install. Reelies runs on any phone, tablet or laptop with a modern browser, and nobody needs an account. One person creates a lobby, everyone else scans the QR code or types the six-character room code.
