How to play Reelies

The impostor game (or imposter game) played with short videos. One of you saw a different clip. Find the impostor.

What you need

• 4 to 8 players in the same room.
• One phone each, with the sound on.
• About 15 minutes for a 5-round game.

Setting up

1. One person opens reelies.fun, picks a name and taps Create lobby.
2. Everyone else joins with the six-character room code, the invite link or the QR code.
3. The host picks the number of rounds (3 to 10) and how long the discussion lasts, then starts the game.

A round

1. Watch

Everyone watches a short clip on their own phone. All but one of you see the same clip. The impostor gets a different one, picked to be close: same kind of subject, setting or vibe. Hold the button under the video to see your role.

2. Talk

Discuss out loud. Describe what you saw without giving it all away. Say too much and the impostor can copy you; say too little and you look like the impostor. The impostor has to bluff from what they hear.

3. Vote

Everyone votes for who they think saw the other clip. Voting closes after 45 seconds.

4. Reveal

Both clips are shown and the impostor is revealed.

Scoring

• If the impostor gets the most votes, everyone else scores 1 point.
• If the group votes for the wrong person, or the top vote is a tie, the impostor got away and scores 2 points.
• After the last round, the player with the most points wins.

Tips

• Civilians: mention one specific detail, like a colour or a sound, and watch who agrees too quickly.
• Impostor: let others talk first, agree vaguely, and steer suspicion onto the quietest player.
• Play with the sound on. Half the clues are in the audio.

Cooking, animals, sports, fails, dance, DIY, nature, cars, comedy and fashion. All clips are real footage that plays from YouTube.

Does the impostor know they're the impostor?

Yes. They know their clip is different, but not what everyone else watched.

Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no download and no account.

Can we play over a video call?

It's made for one room, but it works on a call: share the lobby link and talk while everyone watches on their own device.

How is it different from other impostor games?

Word-based impostor games give everyone a secret word. In Reelies the secret is a video, so you argue about what you actually saw. It plays like a spot-the-odd-one-out game where the odd one out is a person.
